It's okay Thursday

It's Okay:

... that I am spending a small fortune on buying books for my Nook. Not really a fortune but I need to slow down.

...that I have really enjoyed the beautiful weather we are having lately.

..that I want to take a self defense class.

...that I laughed when andrew came home last week with a ticket from a State Trooper for not wearing his seat belt. I get on to him all the time about this so I thought it was funny that he got caught.

...that i'm looking forward to taking Grant to the Easter Egg hunt this weekend at our church. He LOVES to hunt eggs. He is so excited.

...that I'm excited I put a roast in the crock pot this morning, which means dinner will pretty much be ready when I get home today.

I hope everyone has an Okay  wonderful Thursday.

Just some sentences

I keep thinking today is Thursday for some reason. I have been a day off all week. I like Wednesday nights. There is several things I like to watch on tv. Also the past several weeks Andrew has been taking Grant to church on Wednesday nights. I get some quiet time with Bryce.

Sometimes I feel a little mom guilt like i'm spending more time with one child then the other. Grant has been spending more time with his daddy and other members of the family while i've been taking care of Bryce. He by no means goes unloved or doesn't get attention. Then I remind myself that I gave Grant a lot of attention when he was a baby and I need to do the same with Bryce. I love our rides to and from school each day. Grant and I talk the whole time. I find out about his day and he asks a ton of questions. Grant loves to talk. We also talk a lot at dinner. We sit down everynight and eat together as a family. This also helps my guilt because I know Grant gets plenty of undivided attention. (Bryce is still to little to participate)

Yesterday the weather was so nice. Andrew cooked dinner on his new grill. It was nice to get to spend all that time outside with my whole family. Bryce loved being outside. We have a cover back patio so we stayed under it. I hope this nice weather continues. I could get use to spending my evenings outside watching my kids play rather then being cooped up in the house.

4 month check-up

Bryce's four month check-up was yesterday. He weighes 15lb and 6oz and was 27 inches long. He is getting so big. He is even starting to get those cute fat rolls on his thighs.(Of course you would only use cute and fat rolls in the same sentence when you are talking about a baby...haha) Bryce had a really bad ear infection in his right ear. I figured he had one but I didn't expect it to be so bad. They put him on an antibiotic and some cream for the exzema on his face. Hopefully all the sickness will be gone from the Davis household soon. Other then the ear everything thing else was good at the appointment. Our doctor said Bryce is developing well. We also get to start cereal and baby food. I'm sure I will have some cute pictures of him eating soon. We do have to go back in about 2 weeks to get his shots though. Bryce did seem to feel better this monring with no fever.... so he was all smiles. And have I mentioned lately that I love him smile. It makes my heart happy.

It's okay Thursday

It's okay:

...that I'm leaving work today at 12:30 and i'm super excited.

...that I ordered Grant some new spring clothes and i'm paying myself back out of his savings account. Isn't that what all the birthday and Christmas money is for??

...that I'm super excited about going to the movies to see The Hunger Games this weekend.

...that Grant is going to Mobile today and not coming home until Sunday. He needs to spend some time with his Mimi and Pepaw and this mommy needs a break.

...that Bryce is still sleeping in our room instead of his room.(not in our bed just our room)

...that I secretly hope SOME of the boys school pictures turn out bad. I always buy the whole pack (around $90.00 b/c they are so good) and I really only want to buy half this year.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday.

Recapping

It has been about 5 days since my last post and a lot has happened.

Friday night we had a young adult movie night at church. We watched Courageous and ate pizza. Of course, I have already seen the movie but it was a good time to fellowship with friends. Saturday I helped host a baby shower for my friend Whitney. It was farm themed and everything turned out so cute. She got lots of great gift for baby Reid.  I forgot my camera though so I don't have any pictures. My niece was also in a pageant Saturday. I didn't get to go to the pageant b/c of the shower but I did get to see the video. She was so cute and funny. She won prettiest eyes. Sunday was just a normal day....church and lunch at Grandmas. Sunday night was a true blessing. We got to watch my brother in law get baptized. All in all we had a great busy weekend.

Bryce is sick again. They called from the daycare Monday afternoon and said he had a fever. I decided to go ahead and take him to the doctor b/c he has a croupy sounding cough. It's turns out that he has a fever virus. I have never heard of such. Apparently, running a fever is the only symptom. He was running a low fever but seems to feel better and is able to take his milk. We have his four month check-up on Thursday. I still can't believe he is four months already. I just hope he is feeling good enough that they can give him his shots. If not then I guess my husband will have to make a trip to Dothan soon. My mother is also coming Thursday to pick up Grant and take him back to Mobile. Grant is so excited about going to Mimi, Pepaw, and Bailey Rae's house. He asks me everyday if today is the day he gets to go. Finally tomorrow is the day and he is soo excited!

This upcoming weekend we are going to see The Hunger Games. I'm excited about this. I read all three book in about 1 week and 1/2. I really hope the movie doesn't stray to far from the book. I'm also helping host another baby shower for Whitney at our church Sunday. So this weekend is pretty much booked too. I am still looking forward to my two days off to spend with my family and friends.

4 Months Old

I can't believe Bryce is four months old today. At this age :

-Bryce loves to be talked too. He will whine sometimes when you walk away.
-Bryce loves to watch Grant
-Bryce laughs out loud a lot. It use to be when you would tickle him but now he will laugh when I talk to him or make silly faces.
-Bryce sits in his bumbo seat and can play with a toy at the same time.
-Bryce can roll from stomach to back.
-Bryce is eating 6oz every 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
-Bryce is sleeping all night again. He quit for a while after he got sick but is back to all night.
-Bryce is wearing 3-6 month clothes and some just 6 months. He is so long.

We go to the doctor next week for his 4 month check-up. I will post his official height and weight. I can't wait to see how much he has grown. Bryce's smile absolutely melts my heart and brightens my day.

It's okay Thursday

It's okay :

...that I am reading The Hunger Games series every single chance I get. I love it!

...that I'm ready for the weekend b/c this week is go by soo slow.

...that I haven't been to the tanning bed in over a week.

...that I am starving even though I ate breakfast.

...that i'm ready for April so I can get paid again and find out what our raises are for the year.

...that I am excited about being off a half day next week, even if it is to take Bryce to the doctor.

...that I really need a pedicure. I'm trying to save my GC until our beach trip but I don't think i'm going to make it.

...that we still haven't named our newest mini horse.

I hope you have a fabulous Thursday.

Just some sentences

This past weekend we didn't do very much. I enjoyed having some free time. I took the kids outside to play in the nice weather. I wanted some time to catch up on my reading.  I finished The Hunger Games yesterday and started Catching Fire (the 2nd book on the Hunger Games Series) last night. I am very addicted to these books and I can't wait till the movie comes out later this month. I'm currently eating Resse's Puff cereal dry as I type this. This is one of my favorite kinds to eat. Really anything with peanut butter and chocolate is my favorite.

I've been pretty scared lately with all the break ins that have been happening around town. None have been very close to where we live. I have come up with a somewhat plan if someone did try to break in. Andrew thinks i'm crazy for worrying about this but I can't help but think about my children. We are going to get a smaller safe that opens with your handprint in our room and a few flood lights outside. I think it will make me feel a little better. I hope this feeling of nervousness will pass soon.

I can't believe Bryce will be 4 months old at the end if this week. It doesn't seem like he should be ready to start baby food yet. He is getting such a personality. He laughes out loud a lot. And he loves to watch Grant....very sweet. He also rolled over for the first time this past weekend. I saw him do it three times in a row. He would get so excited when I would praise him for rolling over. It's funny how these little things in life make me so happy. Grant is also doing good. He is talking and asking more questions everyday. I'm also feeling a lot more comfortable about walking out of the room and leaving him in there with Bryce. At first I thought Grant might try and pick him up or something. Grant has also become my helper in the mornings. Andrew has already left for work so Grant usually has to hold Bryce's bottle for a few minutes while I finish loading stuff up, especially if we are running late. He does such a good job. I think he loves being a big brother.

Wednesdays are usually the work day I dread the most. Most people would say Monday but actually Mondays are pretty busy and pass by fast. Wednesdays are the slow days and seem to take forever. I really hope today goes by fast. So I hope everyone has a great Wednesday!!

Wordless Wednesday

Splatterbeat

Last night we went to Splatterbeat at the Pike Pioneer Museum. What is Splatterbeat??? It is a show where people played drums on the tops of garbage cans while paint is being splattered everywhere. The show also had some flashing neon lights.  At the end of the show everyone is welcome to come on stage or to play with the cans around the ampitheater and splatter their own paint. Needless to say Grant had a wonderful time. It was definitely something different to do. Living in such a small town had limited things to do for fun. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Here are some of the before and after pictures from the show.
 Maddie and Brady
Double trouble- Jeremiah and Grant
 the men
 Grant and Jeremiah dancing
 Maddie having a ball
 Aunt Heather and Maddie
Mommy and Grant- of course his eyes would be closed
 The Other Davis Family
 one more of us

We had a wonderful time. I'm really glad we could find a babysitter for Bryce. Grant still has some paint in his hair...haha. I also think it is good for him to spend sometime without his brother. I know Grant loves being a big brother but I know he needs that one on one time too. Grant's excitement was very much worth all the scrubbing of the tub and clothes I will have to do.

Struggles

I think that sometimes when people blog or post things about their life and/or family on Facebook they post only the good. I think people want their life to appear great and don't want others to know about their struggles. With that being said, I plan on showing both the good and not so good sides of our lives in this blog.  Recently one of my biggest struggles is Want Vs Need. I'm sure everyone deals with this to some degree. Here are a few of the specific things i'm dealing with:

NEW COOK TOP- Do I want one? Yes. Do we need one? Depends....ours is twenty years old, not all the eyes work, and it doesn't match the other appliances. But does it work enough to cook our food? Yes. So do I need the new cook top just b/c ours is old and doesn't fully work or is it a want b/c  it works enough to get the job done.

UPDATING THE HOUSE- Do I want to do projects around the house to make it nicer? Yes. Do I need to do these projects? No. Our house is twenty plus years old. The foundation and bones of the house are great. The cabinets, counter tops, appliances, and so on could definitely use some updating. I'm constantly thinking of little things I can do or buy to make it feel more homey or fit my taste better.

NEW CLOTHES- Do I want new clothes? Of course. Do I need new clothes? Depends.....most of the ones I have don't fit. I lost most of my baby weight or at least it shifted so that only some of my clothes fit. Does that mean I need to buy more? Technically I have clothes that I can wear even though I don't like them anymore or they don't fit how I want them to. But I would love to have some cute new work clothes or clothes for our family beach trip in May.

EATING OUT- Do I want to eat out every Thursday? Yes. I thoroughly enjoy my day off from cooking. Do we need to eat out? No. We have groceries at the house. I buy about two weeks worth the groceries at a time. I buy meals to cook and then extras like pizza rolls or chicken nuggets for nights when I don't really feel like cooking. So no we don't need to go out to eat. We need to save that money. But sometimes I let the thought creep into my head that its good for my sanity..... to not have to worry about whats for dinner or worry about cooking something that will please everyone.

There are several other things that I know are strictly wants yet I still  hope to get oneday....... Grant a trampoline for his birthday, a bigger vehicle to haul the family, and some bushes/ flowers for the yard. I realize for the most part the difference between my wants and my needs for our family. However it is still a hard struggle wanting to spend money we really don't have, on things we really don't need.

It's okay Thursday

It's okay

... that I left a sink full of dishes instead of cleaning them up this morning.

...that since my child is sick I have been letting him watch as much cartoons as he wants.

...that I am looking forward to the weekend because we don't really have any plans. I'm excited about having some time to relax and hopefully reading The Hunger Games.

...that i'm still wearing the trial contacts the eye doctor gave me over a month ago and wearing my glasses alot more. I really just don't want to spend the money right now on new contacts.

...that I have a hard time determining the difference between hunger and boredom.

...that when I make out my grocery list I seperate the items by sections (cold, meat, dry, paper products). Yes I have OCD.

...that sometimes I struggle with WANT VS NEED.

I hope everyone has an okay wonderful Thursday!!

Wonderful Blessings

Another wonderful weekend has come to an end. It was busy as usual but full of many great blessings.Friday night we stayed at home and watched Courageous. This is a christian based movie geared toward fatherhood but I think it will touch any parent. I actually believe everyone would enjoy this movie. There were times when I was crying from sadness and times when I was crying from laughter.

Saturday morning I cleaned the house while Andrew and Grant played outside and went to the feed store.  Andrew said Grant had a great time playing with Jeremiah and an old cashier. He said one was pretending to buy stuff and the other would ring it up.  Saturday afternoon we went to Cally's 1st birthday party. It was a unicorn themed party. Grant loved riding the unicorn and playing in the ball pit.

Grant loved riding on the unicorn!

Silly Jeremiah!

picture through the net...kinda blurry

This is grant telling me he has something in his teeth so he can't smile. He was eating candy!

Saturday night we went to Auntie Donna's house. She fried some fish and shrimp. The kids cousins played together while the adults played Spoons. This was the first time I played and I love it. It can get quit aggressive. The object of the game is to get four of a kind in your hand and grab a spoon or don't get left without a spoon. Once people start grabing a spoon, you grab one whether you have four of a kind or not. It is really funny to see people get so into the game. I definitely think we will have to play this again.

Sunday Grant suprised us with another blessing. He sang in front of the church with two other children. Grant has sang before but not like this. There was no jumping around or dancing, just loud singing. He was so prescious. He made me feel like such a proud mom. I only wish I would have brought the camcorder. Andrew brother also suprised us at church. He didn't tell anyone that he was going to confess his faith and ask to be baptized again. When he was a young child he was baptized. He admitted he wasn't living right and wanted to rededicate his life to the Lord. It is always a blessing when someone gives their life to the Lord. We had another wonderful weekend full of many blessings. I hope everyone has a BLESSED week.

Oreo & Butter Cup

Like I mentioned in my profile, we are slowly expanding our family. This time it is with animals. We got two new mini horses last week. We finally decided on the names Oreo and Butter Cup. Grant loves his horses. Right now he can only pet them. They have to be broke before riding them. Hopefully soon we will get someone to break the horses or at least one so we can let Grant ride. Grant goes out with his daddy every afternoon to feed and pet them. Needless to say Grant is in LOVE.

ButterCup- I will try and get a better picture soon

We are planning on getting at least one more mini horse that I know off. I'm pretty sure Andrew is thinking we are going to start raising them. I guess we will just have to see. FYI  baby mini horses are the most adorable thing you have ever seen.

It's finally March

Yeah it is finally March. I've been wanting to put out my Spring decorations and i've been waiting on March. Technically Spring begins on March 20th but I consider March spring time. This also means I can wear open toe shoes now...haha! I don't wear them in the winter months even if it is unusually hot.  Just thought I would share my excitement about putting out my Spring decorations this weekend. I hope everyone has a safe & wonderful weekend.

It's okay Thursday

It's okay:

...that I wish today was Friday!

...that I stay up and watch my DVR'ed shows after everyone is asleep to have some ME time, when I should be sleeping.

...that we have the money to buy our new cooktop and i'm really debating on buying a bunch of small things for the house instead.

...that we have our current Netflix movie for almost two weeks and haven't watched it.

...that I just now got around to ordering a photo book from Grant's birth. I did play catch-up and order Bryce's too.

...that i'm excited Andrew is grilling for dinner and all I have to cook is a side dish.

...that I have been playing on Microsoft Publisher all day and I still haven't figured it out.

...that I think my children are the cutest boys in the whole world!
