taking a break

I have been taking a major blogging break. I'm not really sure why other then being busy. So here goes some catching up. Grant went to two bible schools in the past three weeks. He absolutely loves it. We have another nearby church that Grant wants to go to this Friday and Saturday for VBS. We are so lucky to have a young child so eager to go and learn. He makes me very proud.

Grant had his three year check-up last week. He was 32lb and 38 1/2 inches. Bryce also had his 6 month check-up the same day. Bryce was 19lb and 28inches. Both are right on track and healthy.

This past weekend we had kids water day at church. Andrew's company Incredible Inflatables LLC blew up a big water slide. We had a great time. The kids loved it and so did the adults. Bryce is too little to slide but he played in the baby pool and just enjoyed being outside.

Speaking of Bryce he is changing so much lately. He can wave bye, fake cough,  and can sit up by himself for brief periods of time. He is almost big enough to start snacking on cherrios and puffs. I know he will love it b/c he is so interested in our food. Sometimes I can't believe that he is 7 months old. Time flies by way too fast.

Andrew and I also had a date night this weekend. We went out to eat Saturday with the kids but we stayed up and watched our Netflix movie once they were asleep. I know....we have such exciting date nights. Actually I don't mind staying around the house and watching movies. It's way cheaper then anything else. Plus we are alone and that is what is important.

Last night I cooked a new EASY recipe I got off Pinterest.
 Ingredients:
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 pack of powder ranch
1 pack of pork chops

Place all ingredients in crockpot on low for 3-4 hours.
-very simple and was delicious.
I love to try new simple recipes. I especially like it when they turn out good and the family likes them. I have several other recipes on Pinterest I need to try.

Well I guess that does it for catching up. I will post some pictures from Kid's Day soon. Until next time, I hope everyone has a great week.

Random thoughts

This past weekend was very rainy. While a lot of people probably were upset, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Usually we are super busy and don't have time to rest. Since the weather was no good this weekend..... I laid around in my PJ's watching movies and reading my Nook.  Andrew and I watched The Vow and Act of Valor. Both movies made me cry but I equally enjoyed them. I finished my last book of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. I also started Fifty Shades of Grey. I wasn't sure if I would actually read this book because it very descriptive and not reserved. That part of the book is new to me as a reader. It is quite different then anything I have ever read but I can't seem to put it down. There are three books in this series and i'm sure I will have them all read very soon.

When I started reading it was because of Nicholas Sparks. I had one of his books as my summer reading in high school. I have since read all of his books and added a few authors to my list. I'm not sure what direction I will go with my reading after the Fifty Shades series. Any suggestions on good authors?? Reading seems to relax me. I especially like to read before bed.

I received a very nice suprise from my hubby last week. He sent flowers to my work for no reason. Usually I don't like him to buy my flowers because they just die. However, I did enjoy this nice suprise. It was a very sweet thought. Brownie points for Andrew.

Here are a few pictures we took before church on Sunday. Usually I don't have any with me in them but I managed to get one this weekend. Now if we can only get someone to take on of Andrew and I.

I love my men. I know I mention my wonderful children a lot and I love to post pictures because they are so cute. My family truly is my world. Andrew is a great father and husband. I just hope I make him as happy as he makes me. Aww, i'm so sweet.....I know.  Until next time I hope everyone has a great week.

Memorial weekend fun

This past weekend was Memorial weekend. We had a wonderful long holiday. We went swimming several times. We went to a cook out at church and even had our own cookout yesterday. Andrew grilled hamburgers and hotdogs for our family. He blew up his inflatable waterslide and we had a blast. Here are a ton of pictures from the weekend.

Beach, Yummy Food, Roller Skating and a Sick child

Today I am tired and Bryce is at home instead of school.  He is sick with some sort of bacterial infection in his throat. We came home yesterday from our beach vacation and he was running a fever. We took Bryce to the Urgent Care because I thought he had an ear infection. Hopefully he will feel better soon.

Last Wednesday we left for the beach. Bryce stayed with my mother because he is really to small to enjoy the beach. I also thought it would be good for Grant to get some undivided attention. We had a blast. We ate at several different places: Tacky Jacks, Boondocks, The Back Porch, Thomas Donuts, and Dippin Dots. We went crab hunting several times. Grant loved it. He would actually catch the crabs in his net and wasn't scared. He cried the last night when we let them go. Saturday night we went to Rockit Lanes and played some video games and roller skated.  Grant kept trying to run in the skates, so he didn't care to much for it. However, I skated forever and had a blast. It reminded me of old times. We also managed to get in a couples night out and a girls night out. Over all we had a great time. Here are a few of the pictures I took on my phone.

I'm a slacker

It has been a whole week since my last post. I usually try and keep up with blogging better. I know once I start to slack it will get easier and easier. Days will turn into weeks, which will then turn into months, and soon I will stop blogging because I am so far behind. So with that being said i'm going to try real hard not to slack too often.

Our  recap of last week...... Saturday we had an Egg hunt at the church. Grant absolutley loves to hunt eggs. This year he was more interested in getting the candy out of the eggs then hunting them. Of course, he wanted to hunt more once it was over. We also had a fish fry Saturday. After the egg hunt we stayed at church and chatted while the kids ran around and played until it was time to eat. I don't like fish but we always go to the fish fry to fellowship. Usually they have chicken or something else but they didn't this time. So I ate french fries and cheese cake....Healthy I know. It was yummy though.
Sunday we went to church. We ate lunch at home beacause grandma is out of town. I left and went grocery shopping while everyone else napped. We really needed groceries around our house. When I got back Andrew and Grant left to go help a friend move his tractor. Grant really loves tractors and was excited to ride one. Andrew played basketball Sunday night and I watched my shows. GCB and Desperate Housewives.

I started to feel bad Monday....my throat was hurting and I had that annoying post nasel drip. Tuesday when I woke up I had the worse headache ever and I was achey. Of course, I immediately though I had the flu. A co-worker had it last week, so I just knew I caught it. I decided to go ahead to the doctor because of the kids. I waited for almost two hours to find out it is a sinus and ear infection. I was super happy it was not the flu. I got a shot, an antibiotic, and some decongestant medicine. I went home and took a three hour nap. Andrew says its not a nap if its three hours it is SLEEP. Either way I never nap or sleep during the day so I must have needed it. I came back to work on Wednesday, not feeling my best but needing to return. Today I actually feel worse then yesterday. I'm back to being stopped up and I have a small headache. I really hope the medicine I took this morning kicks in soon.

On a happier note, Grant is having an Easter party at school today. They are hunting eggs and eating goodies. He is super excited about it. They are out of school tomorrow so my mother-in-law is going to watch them. Both boys are also going to stay at her house Friday night. Andrew and I are going on a date night to watch American Pie Reunion. I'm excited because i'm sure it will be funny. We NEED a date night, if for nothing more then our sanity. We usually stay at home a lot. Mostly to save money and for lack of babysitters. We usually watch tv, play games, or watch Netflix movies but sometimes its nice to get out of the house and do something. I am excited!

Recapping

It has been about 5 days since my last post and a lot has happened.

Friday night we had a young adult movie night at church. We watched Courageous and ate pizza. Of course, I have already seen the movie but it was a good time to fellowship with friends. Saturday I helped host a baby shower for my friend Whitney. It was farm themed and everything turned out so cute. She got lots of great gift for baby Reid.  I forgot my camera though so I don't have any pictures. My niece was also in a pageant Saturday. I didn't get to go to the pageant b/c of the shower but I did get to see the video. She was so cute and funny. She won prettiest eyes. Sunday was just a normal day....church and lunch at Grandmas. Sunday night was a true blessing. We got to watch my brother in law get baptized. All in all we had a great busy weekend.

Bryce is sick again. They called from the daycare Monday afternoon and said he had a fever. I decided to go ahead and take him to the doctor b/c he has a croupy sounding cough. It's turns out that he has a fever virus. I have never heard of such. Apparently, running a fever is the only symptom. He was running a low fever but seems to feel better and is able to take his milk. We have his four month check-up on Thursday. I still can't believe he is four months already. I just hope he is feeling good enough that they can give him his shots. If not then I guess my husband will have to make a trip to Dothan soon. My mother is also coming Thursday to pick up Grant and take him back to Mobile. Grant is so excited about going to Mimi, Pepaw, and Bailey Rae's house. He asks me everyday if today is the day he gets to go. Finally tomorrow is the day and he is soo excited!

This upcoming weekend we are going to see The Hunger Games. I'm excited about this. I read all three book in about 1 week and 1/2. I really hope the movie doesn't stray to far from the book. I'm also helping host another baby shower for Whitney at our church Sunday. So this weekend is pretty much booked too. I am still looking forward to my two days off to spend with my family and friends.

Wonderful Blessings

Another wonderful weekend has come to an end. It was busy as usual but full of many great blessings.Friday night we stayed at home and watched Courageous. This is a christian based movie geared toward fatherhood but I think it will touch any parent. I actually believe everyone would enjoy this movie. There were times when I was crying from sadness and times when I was crying from laughter.

Saturday morning I cleaned the house while Andrew and Grant played outside and went to the feed store.  Andrew said Grant had a great time playing with Jeremiah and an old cashier. He said one was pretending to buy stuff and the other would ring it up.  Saturday afternoon we went to Cally's 1st birthday party. It was a unicorn themed party. Grant loved riding the unicorn and playing in the ball pit.

Grant loved riding on the unicorn!

Silly Jeremiah!

This is grant telling me he has something in his teeth so he can't smile. He was eating candy!

Saturday night we went to Auntie Donna's house. She fried some fish and shrimp. The kids cousins played together while the adults played Spoons. This was the first time I played and I love it. It can get quit aggressive. The object of the game is to get four of a kind in your hand and grab a spoon or don't get left without a spoon. Once people start grabing a spoon, you grab one whether you have four of a kind or not. It is really funny to see people get so into the game. I definitely think we will have to play this again.

Sunday Grant suprised us with another blessing. He sang in front of the church with two other children. Grant has sang before but not like this. There was no jumping around or dancing, just loud singing. He was so prescious. He made me feel like such a proud mom. I only wish I would have brought the camcorder. Andrew brother also suprised us at church. He didn't tell anyone that he was going to confess his faith and ask to be baptized again. When he was a young child he was baptized. He admitted he wasn't living right and wanted to rededicate his life to the Lord. It is always a blessing when someone gives their life to the Lord. We had another wonderful weekend full of many blessings. I hope everyone has a BLESSED week.

games, hamburgers, horses, and church

This weekend flew by as usual. Friday night Whitney and Wade came over to the house. We ate pizza and played some games. Saturday I did laundry and cleaned up the house. Andrew went Saturday morning to pick up the two newest members of our family. We have two new minature horses. We are still in debate on what we are naming them. So far Grant has said: horse, tan, cereal, sausage, oreo, buster, and a few other random names that didn't make sense. Oreo is a possiblilty because one horse is a black and white paint. I will have to take some pictures soon and post them for everyone to see.

Saturday night some of our friends (Whitney and Wade, Chase and Claire, and Josh and Nicole) came over to play more games. We grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, and had some buffalo chicken dip. We had a great time laughing and being very competative.  Sunday we went to church and then ate lunch at grandmas.  After lunch we went home for nap time. I usually don't like to take a nap but I was exhausted. Bryce has been waking up in the middle of the night since he has been sick. We were use to getting a full night of sleep and now we are adjusting to interrupted sleep. I really hope once the weather gets warmer everything will go back to normal. At least I can hope so! I cooked chili last night and caught up on some of my DVR'ed shows. I also watched cartoons with Grant and played with Bryce. Side note: Bryce has started laughing out loud....cutest thing ever. I love to talk and sing to him. He smiles so big. We also tickle him a little to hear his wonderful laugh!

BUSY BUSY is how the Davis household is these days. However, I wouldn't change any of it.  We are truly blest to have such great family and friends to stay busy with. We do not know where we would be without any of you.

The 3 S's... sick children, sick husband, and shopping

Our long 3 day weekend was full of  fun, laughter, love, cooking, cleaning, shopping, and lots of sickness.

Bryce was diaganosed with RSV on Wednesday and has an ear infection. Grant's RSV test was negative but he has an ear infection. Saturday was a pretty rough day for Bryce. Nothing really seemed to satisfy him. He slept a lot, which I think helped in his recovery. He has finally stopped drinking pedialyte and is back to drinking his formula. Grant has been laughing and playing through his sickness. His cough is very nasty but doesn't seem to let it slow him down. Andrew now seems to think he is sick. And we all know men are worse then babies when they are sick!  Hopefully I won't get it. I've been keeping myself up and going... trying to fight it off. Saturday we stayed around the house most of the day. I cleaned out our master closet and Bryce's clothes he has outgrown already. I can't believe he is getting so big so fast! I also cooked yummy ranch pork chops, rice, and green beans for supper.

Sunday we didn't go to church or Grandmas like we usually do. We didn't want to get the kids out in the cold or subject the other children to getting their colds. Mr. Bobby (my father in law) came by the house to spend some time with the kids. He lives out of town and doesn't get to come in town but once a month unless something special is going on. We visited for a while and then I went grocery shopping. Later while the kids were napping, Andrew and I watch Water for Elephants. I really liked it. I do love some RPattz! And sunday night I tried a new receipe for some baked cheddar chicken. I think Andrew is enjoying me cooking different things lately. I told him not to get to use to it b/c when its back to work, its back to quick and easy: spaghetti, hot dogs, grilled cheese and soup, lasagna, roast in the crock pot, breakfast food, etc...

Monday. Andrew had to go back to work. I made plans before the kids got sick to meet my friend Cherish in Dothan to do some shopping. I decided since the weather was warmer, the kids were feeling better, and I really needed to have girl time ... to go. We met at Target to do a little bathing suit shopping. Yes, it is February but I wanted to get a new one before the bathing suits got picked over. We are going on a family beach trip in May and i'm so excited! The plan is to put in on, look in the mirror and get motivation to exercise ...haha! I doubt I will really do it but it sounds like a good idea at the time. Cherish and I went to a few more stores, ate lunch, and then parted ways. It is so nice to be able to pick back up with an old friend you haven't seen in a while so easily. I love me some Cherish! When I got home I decided to start boiling my chicken to make home-made chicken salad. I love chicken salad but it is so much work. So I don't cook it very often. It turned out great by the way. Bryce napped and Andrew took Grant outside to enjoy the nice weather. After dinner Andrew and I played Monopoly Deal. I beat him...haha! I love to play games but we are both so competitive we don't get to play that often. Last night we watched the Voice..love it! I also watched Grant run around naked showing his muscles before bath time .....which btw he looks like an Ethiopian. And trust me all he does is eat. Grant also got super excited about the bath fizzes I bought that change his water colors. He made me feel like the best mom in the world. If only EVERYONE got so happy over such little things.

All in all we had a great weekend despite everyone being sick. I hope this week is still full of fun, laughter, love, cooking, cleaning, with less shopping and sickness!

Wonderful weekend

This weekend was one of the best weekends we have had in a long time. My brother lives in California and I don't get to see him very often. He came in town along with my sister in law Meagan and my mother. Friday night we just hung out around the house and played with the kids.

Saturday Andrew and I cooked breakfast along with our helper Grant.

We also walked up the road to show Josh and Meagan the animals we have around our house. My brother in law has pigs, goats, baby sheep, chickens, and guinea pigs. We were intruducing the family to our country living... haha! Saturday afternoon we played Phase 10 and Monopoly Deal card game. We have a great time playing games. In fact, I think we found a new favorite game, Monopoly Deal. It is like monopoly but a fast paced card game. Saturday evening Andrew grilled dinner and we played some more games. Sunday morning we ate breakfast and our family was on their way. I enjoyed catching up with my brother and seeing the interaction between Grant and his Uncle Josh. Grant took to Josh very well. It was so sweet Bryce also held a toy(his ball) for the first time.  Below are a few more pictures from this weekend.
