games, hamburgers, horses, and church

This weekend flew by as usual. Friday night Whitney and Wade came over to the house. We ate pizza and played some games. Saturday I did laundry and cleaned up the house. Andrew went Saturday morning to pick up the two newest members of our family. We have two new minature horses. We are still in debate on what we are naming them. So far Grant has said: horse, tan, cereal, sausage, oreo, buster, and a few other random names that didn't make sense. Oreo is a possiblilty because one horse is a black and white paint. I will have to take some pictures soon and post them for everyone to see.

Saturday night some of our friends (Whitney and Wade, Chase and Claire, and Josh and Nicole) came over to play more games. We grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, and had some buffalo chicken dip. We had a great time laughing and being very competative.  Sunday we went to church and then ate lunch at grandmas.  After lunch we went home for nap time. I usually don't like to take a nap but I was exhausted. Bryce has been waking up in the middle of the night since he has been sick. We were use to getting a full night of sleep and now we are adjusting to interrupted sleep. I really hope once the weather gets warmer everything will go back to normal. At least I can hope so! I cooked chili last night and caught up on some of my DVR'ed shows. I also watched cartoons with Grant and played with Bryce. Side note: Bryce has started laughing out loud....cutest thing ever. I love to talk and sing to him. He smiles so big. We also tickle him a little to hear his wonderful laugh!

BUSY BUSY is how the Davis household is these days. However, I wouldn't change any of it.  We are truly blest to have such great family and friends to stay busy with. We do not know where we would be without any of you.

It's okay Thursday

It's okay

....that I like to go out to eat every Thursday, so I get a night off from cooking.

....that I like to play games and get very competative while playing them.

....that I have spring fever bad and am dying to put out my decorations

....that my newest addiction is Pinterest and I keep adding to my husbands honey do list.

....that I like to go to the tanning bed or get a pedicure sometimes to feel pretty.

...that I make my 2 1/2 year old sing his Sunday School songs before getting the piece of gum he wants while riding in the car.

....that the only think I wanted for Valetine's day was Breaking Dawn. And that I could watch the Twilight series over and over.

....that sometimes I give advice or offer my opion with out being asked, especially when I am trying to help someone I care about.

....that I am trying to do the Carrie Underwood leg workout b/c I would love to have her legs.

And its most definitley okay that i'm "borrowing" creative ideas to try on my blog.... from other blogs I follow.

Happy Thursday Everyone!!

Birds

This is the conversation we had when I picked the boys up on our way home today.

Grant: Mommy, I don't see any birds
Me: Me either
Grant: Where are the birds?
Me: I don't know. Where do you think they are?
Grant: I think they are with the helicopters and the sun
Me: Where is the helicopters and sun?
Grant: They are behind those big clouds silly.

I love this kid. He cracks me up!!

The 3 S's... sick children, sick husband, and shopping

Our long 3 day weekend was full of  fun, laughter, love, cooking, cleaning, shopping, and lots of sickness.

Bryce was diaganosed with RSV on Wednesday and has an ear infection. Grant's RSV test was negative but he has an ear infection. Saturday was a pretty rough day for Bryce. Nothing really seemed to satisfy him. He slept a lot, which I think helped in his recovery. He has finally stopped drinking pedialyte and is back to drinking his formula. Grant has been laughing and playing through his sickness. His cough is very nasty but doesn't seem to let it slow him down. Andrew now seems to think he is sick. And we all know men are worse then babies when they are sick!  Hopefully I won't get it. I've been keeping myself up and going... trying to fight it off. Saturday we stayed around the house most of the day. I cleaned out our master closet and Bryce's clothes he has outgrown already. I can't believe he is getting so big so fast! I also cooked yummy ranch pork chops, rice, and green beans for supper.

Sunday we didn't go to church or Grandmas like we usually do. We didn't want to get the kids out in the cold or subject the other children to getting their colds. Mr. Bobby (my father in law) came by the house to spend some time with the kids. He lives out of town and doesn't get to come in town but once a month unless something special is going on. We visited for a while and then I went grocery shopping. Later while the kids were napping, Andrew and I watch Water for Elephants. I really liked it. I do love some RPattz! And sunday night I tried a new receipe for some baked cheddar chicken. I think Andrew is enjoying me cooking different things lately. I told him not to get to use to it b/c when its back to work, its back to quick and easy: spaghetti, hot dogs, grilled cheese and soup, lasagna, roast in the crock pot, breakfast food, etc...

Monday. Andrew had to go back to work. I made plans before the kids got sick to meet my friend Cherish in Dothan to do some shopping. I decided since the weather was warmer, the kids were feeling better, and I really needed to have girl time ... to go. We met at Target to do a little bathing suit shopping. Yes, it is February but I wanted to get a new one before the bathing suits got picked over. We are going on a family beach trip in May and i'm so excited! The plan is to put in on, look in the mirror and get motivation to exercise ...haha! I doubt I will really do it but it sounds like a good idea at the time. Cherish and I went to a few more stores, ate lunch, and then parted ways. It is so nice to be able to pick back up with an old friend you haven't seen in a while so easily. I love me some Cherish! When I got home I decided to start boiling my chicken to make home-made chicken salad. I love chicken salad but it is so much work. So I don't cook it very often. It turned out great by the way. Bryce napped and Andrew took Grant outside to enjoy the nice weather. After dinner Andrew and I played Monopoly Deal. I beat him...haha! I love to play games but we are both so competitive we don't get to play that often. Last night we watched the Voice..love it! I also watched Grant run around naked showing his muscles before bath time .....which btw he looks like an Ethiopian. And trust me all he does is eat. Grant also got super excited about the bath fizzes I bought that change his water colors. He made me feel like the best mom in the world. If only EVERYONE got so happy over such little things.

All in all we had a great weekend despite everyone being sick. I hope this week is still full of fun, laughter, love, cooking, cleaning, with less shopping and sickness!

Wonderful weekend

This weekend was one of the best weekends we have had in a long time. My brother lives in California and I don't get to see him very often. He came in town along with my sister in law Meagan and my mother. Friday night we just hung out around the house and played with the kids.

Saturday Andrew and I cooked breakfast along with our helper Grant.

We also walked up the road to show Josh and Meagan the animals we have around our house. My brother in law has pigs, goats, baby sheep, chickens, and guinea pigs. We were intruducing the family to our country living... haha! Saturday afternoon we played Phase 10 and Monopoly Deal card game. We have a great time playing games. In fact, I think we found a new favorite game, Monopoly Deal. It is like monopoly but a fast paced card game. Saturday evening Andrew grilled dinner and we played some more games. Sunday morning we ate breakfast and our family was on their way. I enjoyed catching up with my brother and seeing the interaction between Grant and his Uncle Josh. Grant took to Josh very well. It was so sweet Bryce also held a toy(his ball) for the first time.  Below are a few more pictures from this weekend.

OCD in the Davis house

When you have children you always wonder what quality they will get from you. Will they  have your eyes, nose, or mouth? Will they talk, walk, or act like you? Lately Grant has made it very clear one quality he gets from his mother.....my OCD. Yes our 2 1/2 year old child has OCD. Within the last week these are some of the things he has said.

I don't want to wear those pajamas, they don't match.
Daddy you have to close that. (referring to the shower curtain...big pet peav of mine)
Mommy, what did you put on my floor? You need to put it in my drawer. It doesn't belong on the floor.
You need to put the lid on that bottle before you spill it.

Grant also has to go to sleep with his 4 mickey's in a specific order in his bed. We have to sing Jesus Love Me every night and check his holes and closet before he will sleep. He puts his cup in a certain place while we eat. If you move it, he will move it back. His toys almost always get put back in the place he found them.
These are just a few quirks he has. I'm not sure if it will last forever or if he will outgrow the OCD. I'm not going to lie, I really enjoy it. Not only does it drive Andrew crazy.....I know we will have a cleaner house b/c Grant can't stand a mess. Here are a few pictures of my sweet, loving, energetic, happy, healthy, handsome OCD little boy!

updating and starting fresh

Lets see where to begin my first post....... I use to have a blog I started about 4 years ago. I did pretty well for close to a year and then shortly after the birth of our first child Grant, I stopping finding time to write. Needless to say a lot has changed between now and then. I decided to start a new blog, start FRESH in 2012. I really hope to capture the day to day moments of my life.

Since 2012 began we have been one busy family!
~ We started out the year at our friends Josh and Nicole's house. There were several other couples and a few small children there. Grant had a ball watching the fireworks and roasting marshmellows. Since Bryce was only 1 month old we decided to let Auntie Donna watch him so we could spend more time outside and with Grant.
~ I also returned to work on January 3rd. My mother kept Bryce in Mobile for my first week back. It was strange not having him around the house. However, I was so busy getting my schedule back in order I wasn't too upset about him being gone so long.
~ Bryce had his 2 month check-up on January 16,2012. He weighed 12lb and 11 oz and was 25 1/4in. He was 95% for height and 75% for weight. He is way bigger then Grant was at his age.
~ Grant got up and sang in front of the church with the other kids in his Sunday School class for the first time in Feb. He sang about 1 verse and decided it was time to put on a dance show. He made everyone laugh and needless to say i'm one very proud mother. He is also about to attempt round two at singing in front of the church this Sunday. And YES we are recording these.

We also have a couple things coming up we are looking forward to. I'm going to dinner with one of my best friends Cherish tonight. Although we only live 45min away from each other we just can't seem to get our schedules together. I'm very excited about some girl talk!! My brother, sister-in-law, and mother are coming to stay this weekend. Josh and Meagan live in California so it has been a long time since I've seen him and i've never met her. So it should be a fun weekend. My nephew Jeremiah's 3rd birthday is this month and we will have his birthday party to attend. I'm going to girls movie night with some women from work next week to see The Vow.  Also, i'm off work on Presidents day and I hope to do some shopping for our family beach trip in MAY!! I'm so excited about out trip. I think Grant will enjoy it so much especially the part about getting our unidivided attend with no little brother around.

All in all, we started out the year great and are truely one blessed family!
